Turn off that Pilot Light

If you have not done so, now is a great time to turn off the pilot light on your furnace or fireplace.  It is easy to do, and will save you money (like $30 or more according to some sources.) 

In the case you don't know how to do it, it makes sense to check the instructions for the appliance.  Most pilots are controlled by a knob that locks into the off position when you turn it.   And it is almost as easy to turn it back on when the weather turns cold again.
