Tomorrow is Don't Fry Day!

Tomorrow, May 27, 2011, has been designated Don't Fry Day by the National Council of Skin Cancer Prevention.

Unfortunately, skin cancer is on the rise in the U.S.  To help protect yourself from skin cancer, use sunblock, seek shade, don't fake and bake, and see a dermatologist regularly to make sure you don't have any funny looking moles.

In 2009, our blogger Michelle listed the top 5 greenest sunblock brands...and the 5 most "ungreen."   Here's a recap:

5 Most Eco-Friendly Sunscreens:

1.  Burt's Bees Chemical-Free Sunscreen

2.  Badger SPF 30

3.  Aubrey Organics Sunblock

4.  Lavera Sun Milk SPF 20

5.  Oxy Oil Free Daily Moisturizer Sunscreen Protection

The bottom 5?  Banana Boat, St. Ives Protect & Glow, Jason Natural Cosmetics Block (that one came as a surprise to me!), Elizabeth Arden Daily Moisture, and Kiss My Face Sunswat Waterproof Sun Block.  (Also a surprise to me)

Those scores were based on product content, and manufacturing process, i.e., pollution caused by production and shipping.

Don't forget to slather on the sunblock this Memorial Day weekend -- and beyond.  Pick out the "greenest" sunblocks and keep yourself safe.
