TGIF Keen & Green Celeb: Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio does so much for the environment, it's hard for me to know where to even begin.

First, check out The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation.  It highlights different campaigns and environmental news stories that are particularly important to him.  His foundation was started in 1998.  In 2001, Environment Now honored the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation with the Martin Litton Environmental Warrior Award.

In 2007, he created, produced, and narrated a documentary called The 11th Hour.  The film was about global warming and in the film, he said, "Global warming is not only the number one environmental challenge we face today, but one of the most important issues facing all of humanity."

The current campaign the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation website is profiling is Save Tigers Now.  This site is a WWF campaign, which fellow actor Dick Van Dyke is also participating in.

It was hard for me to resist using a picture of Leo from "Growing Pains" but for those of you who remember him as troubled teen Luke in the final season, I figured it'd be a fun blast from the past.  ;-)  But he's not the same kid he was back then -- not only has he evolved into a talented actor, but one who is a passionate environmental activist using his fame to bring more attention to the problems our planet is facing.
