TGIF Keen & Green Celeb: Julia Louis-Dreyfus

"Get out!"  Today's TGIF Keen & Green celeb is Julia Louis-Dreyfus!   She is definitely one celebrity who talks the talk and walks the walk when it comes to living green.

Since the 90s, Julia Louis-Dreyfus has been actively involved with a variety of environmental organizations, such as Heal the Bay and NRDC.   Meanwhile, her husband, Brad Hall, works to get Hollywood studios to be less wasteful.  Together, they worked to make their home a green one.  It includes a retractable roof, solar panels, sustainably harvested wood and bamboo, a natural ventilation system, and the insulation is made of recycled newspaper.

Back in 2003, Louis-Dreyfus told Grist:  "As Americans we are incredibly fortunate. We are 5 percent of the world's population and consume a third of the total resources. We should all feel guilty relative to the world."  She also said, "One of my goals is simply to try and help make environmental lifestyle decisions cool and sexy. It sounds trite, but certainly in a consumer-based society, this can be an incredibly effective form of activism. When Leo DiCaprio or Cameron Diaz is seen driving a hybrid-engine car to the Oscars, that has far-reaching influence. They help shake off the idea that environmentalism is a hippie-crunchy-granola-fringe movement."
