How to save the whales

As a kid growing up in the '80s, there were three things that got me interested in the environment:  reducing litter, acid rain, and saving whales.

My friends and I would start environmental clubs wanting to raise money to adopt whales.  The clubs never went very far, but our hearts were in the right place.

You don't hear as much about acid rain and saving the whales as you did back then, but whales still seriously need our help.

Greenpeace is holding a virtual vigil for the whales.  "Before the International Whaling Commission (IWC) meeting this June, President Obama has a decision to make. He must decide whether the US will be a leader and push for reform at the meeting or step back and allow business as usual to continue. His decision will determine the fate of the planet’s whales," Greenpeace says.   Just sign your name and you'll be added to the map.  Greenpeace is hoping that this will keep the issue front and center.
