Green events in the San Francisco Bay Area – February 2010

Check the following events and networking opportunities in the San Francisco Bay Area:

1.       A presentation and a panel discussion on “Value Creation from Sustainability Best Practices” is hosted by the Sustainable Silicon Valley (SSV) Green Team Leaders and EMC. Page Mill Consultants and Kanal Consulting will present their findings on the sustainability best practices among 25 leading corporations (14 are Bay Area companies). Learn how these companies are benefiting from their sustainability initiatives, including:· Major value drivers for sustainability initiatives & how to structure projects for success· Performance management: strategically driving the direction of sustainability initiatives & results with balanced-scorecard metrics· A flexible sustainability governance model for solid initiative oversight in companies of all sizes & sustainability maturity levels· Supply chain management best practices· Best practices in greening operations · Building green brands & driving top line revenue creation

An expert panel will follow the presentation: company insiders discuss their successes and challenges in driving sustainability into company-wide practices and dialogue with the audience and report authors. 2.       U.S.-Japan Clean Tech Symposium 2010 in San Francisco - “Why Being in Japan and Partnering with Japanese Companies are Essential for Clean Tech

The U.S.-Japan Symposium will highlight clean tech opportunities and encourage collaboration between U.S. and Japanese companies through discussion and sharing of strategies and plans (e.g. investment in U.S. and Japan; innovation opportunities for U.S. and Japanese companies; entry into third-country markets by U.S. and Japan collaboration).

Organized by the U.S. Department of State, METI (Japan's Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry), and JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization), the event will hold several panel discussions:

Panel Discussion 1: Cleantech in Japan - Current developments in marketable clean technologies in Japan and what Japanese companies are looking for when working with U.S. companies. Also, U.S. journalists will discuss the latest technologies and trends in Japan.

Panel Discussion 2: U.S. Clentech - Views on the Japanese market and overseas market development by U.S. clean tech companies.

There will be a networking reception after the sessions.
