Sacramento Solar Panel Installation

SAcramento Solar Panel Installation

If you are considering solar panel installation, it is (obviously) important to do your research. Living in Sacramento, there are many great government financial incentives and a plethora of installation companies to choose from. And the weather in Sacramento is ideal for solar electricity production, as well.

There are several factors to consider when deciding if solar installation is right for you.

How big is your roof? Panels usually come in 1-kilowatt rectangles which measure about 100 square feet. A 1-kilowatt solar panel generally produces 1,800 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year (take a look t your recent energy bills to see how much you usually use). It usually doesn't make sense to install less than 2-kilowatts of panels.

How does sunlight hit your house? Sun from the south produces the best results, but a good installer will be able to help you maximize your solar production regardless of the position of your home. You will have to consider trees, neighboring buildings, and other structures which may decrease sun to your roof and if it makes economical sense to install solar panels. The good news is that Sacramento is known for receiving plenty of sunlight from all directions.

Can your roof handle PV panels? It is generally recommended having had your roof shingled within the previous 10 years., so you don't have to take the panels down to reshingle. If you have lots of land, you can consider a “ground mount” system.

What kind of tax incentives exist? California offers some nice refund incentives which pay your per kilowatt of panelling installed, and the feds allow you to claim 30% of the total cost of installation on your taxes.
